You're Better Than Me

Those are words I never thought I'd hear from my mentor, who helped shape me into the man I am today. 

11 years ago, I saw him speak for the first time and work a room of 600+ people.

9 years ago, I attended his business conference and was inspired to see what was possible if you focused on creating instead of waiting. 

7 years ago, I went to his speaking school and was blown away by the knowledge he had accumulated from speaking for 40+ years. 

6 years ago, he helped me shape up my first personal development book titled - The C.A.R.E. Principle: Creating a Life that Makes a Difference to the World Under Thirty. 

5 years ago, he inspired me to start a mentorship/internship program for high school and college students that eventually led to my next book, Skip College, Read This. 

4 years ago, he encouraged me to start teaching a speaker school. 

3 years ago, I retook his speaker school and had a whole new level of respect for him after a year of teaching. 

2 years ago, his humor rubbed off on me so much that I started performing comedy to expand my speaking repertoire. 

Last year, I could tell he was proud of what had been created with Warm Heart Life through his mentorship. 

This year, he looked at me straight in the eyes during drinks at the legendary Applebee's, and said, "It's your time. You've taught these all around the country for many years, adapted to the times, and now you're better than me." 

I was speechless because none of the speaker's school successes would have been possible without him, and I'm forever grateful.
